I believe right now, during this crisis, we have the best opportunity to grow our relationship with God. But I also believe that there is an enemy who would try to make sure that this doesn’t happen.
A reporter was interviewing an old man on his 100th birthday. The reporter asked, “What are you most proud of?” The old man replied with, “Well, I do not have an enemy in the world.” The reporter said, “What a beautiful thought! How inspirational!” “Yep,” added the old man, “I outlived every last one of them.”
John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Let me say this: our enemy is not God, Jesus Christ, or our fellow believers. Our enemy is the total opposite: his name is Satan (the Devil), and he hates you.
I Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
During this crisis, Satan is out there to destroy your life. He’s out there to destroy your family, your marriage, and your kids.
I hope we understand that he is real, folks. This is not just some made-up cartoon comic book character. The Bible says he is real. I believe it, and you ought to believe it as well.
I encourage us to be sober and vigilant during this time. Let’s set up some personal goals, spiritual goals, and family goals as we plan to grow during this crisis.
As children of God, we need to examine ourselves constantly to make sure our love is still devoted to Him.
Our willingness to humbly take correction and instruction is a pathway for wisdom.
