Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
It is extremely important that we eat food. Without food, the human body would shut down, and we would die. The body needs food because food contains nutrients that our body uses to carry out its functions. They help us to grow, become stronger, give us energy, and build up a stronger immune system so we can fight off illnesses throughout the year. Just as our physical bodies need food to stay alive; our soul also needs spiritual food to survive. The Word of God is our spiritual food! It helps us to grow spiritually, to become spiritually strong and gives us energy to withstand the troubles of life! God’s Word should be our daily bread.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Regular intake of Scripture will keep us spiritually strong and healthy. Just like good eating habits can boost our immune system, a daily dose of Scripture will boost our “Spiritual Immune System!” Without regular intake of Scriptures, we become spiritually malnourished.
Matthew 7:24-25 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
A healthy body does not easily get sick with common colds or the flu, but a body that is lacking nutrients is prone to any type of physical infections. The daily problems and stress we face, coupled with the wrong fleshly desires can be overwhelming if we are not spiritually in tune with God. When we are spiritually healthy, we can resist spiritual diseases. It is when we are spiritually weak that we stumble so easily!
Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Psalm 17:4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
Every day we are bombarded by our enemies. The world, the flesh, and the Devil are constantly trying to get us. These enemies are powerful and cannot be defeated by our own power! God’s Word is our mighty weapon to fight temptation. It will help us fight off any sin or wrong desires that the Devil throws at us. If we will obey it and allow it to guide our life, it will keep us from sin! Don’t forget to take a daily dose of our daily Bread!
The success of the men of faith, their efforts, and their courage, came because they had something in common, they were people who lived in the Word of God.
Life does not consist of that which we possess. Joy doesn’t come from getting what we want.
