Decisions

Nathan Ros

We make choices or decisions every day. Some choices are small, some are bigger. Some choices are based on finances and some are based on convenience. Some choices are carnal and some are spiritual. Some choices involve people and some are individually based. Whatever the decision or choice is, we are faced with them daily.  Decisions and choices are a part of life!  Somebody once said, “The decisions you make today will determine your destiny tomorrow.” Based on that statement, what type of future will you have? Are you making the right decisions? More importantly, are your decisions God-honoring and Bible-based?

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 30:15-20:

15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; 16 In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. 17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; 18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. 19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

God is a gentleman. He will never force you to do what you do not want to do. He has given all of us a free will. He has given us the power of choice. With a free will and power to choose, as Christians, let’s make the right decisions and choose wisely. Here is a list of ways to make the right decisions:

1. Don’t choose or make a big decision when you are spiritually or physically weak.

2. Pray and fast over the decision.

3. Wait on the decision.

4. Make sure your decision is Bible-based. If it goes against God’s Word, don’t decide to do it.

5. Get wise counsel from Godly people.

6. If you are married, make sure you get input from your spouse.

Decisions and choices are a part of life! What type of decisions are you making? God has given us the power to make decisions, let’s make sure we make all our decisions Bible-based and God-honoring!
