What do people think when they hear your name? Do they think of kindness, Godliness, and faithfulness? Is your name pleasant to their ears and thoughts? How do they speak about you to others? Do others desire to be around you?
Or do they think of worldliness, selfishness, or pride? Do they pass over you for invitations because of your poor conduct?
Your reputation and relationships are a great measure of your life!
As a Christian, having a good name is not an option! A wise man will choose a good reputation over earthly riches. By the way, there are many rich men that have no good name! Our good reputation is something that will still live on even after we’re gone. It could be a godly legacy that we can leave our children, or it can be something that they would have to endure for quite some time.
Having a good name takes work! It will not happen overnight, but there will be lasting benefits. A good name will bless others. It is a powerful tool that can be used of God to reach people for Christ! Unfortunately, it would be harder to lead people to Christ if we don’t have a good testimony.
Do you have a good name? What kind of reputation do you have? My encouragement for us today is this: let us strive to build a good reputation, not for ourselves, but for the glory of God!
As children of God, we need to examine ourselves constantly to make sure our love is still devoted to Him.
Our willingness to humbly take correction and instruction is a pathway for wisdom.
